The Best Website Intro

Oh Man. Here comes the obligatory intro post. You know how many of these I’ve done over the years and then abandoned the site almost instantly? An F-Ton. BUT bear with me this time. I think this site will be useful. Why? I spent 20 years building games and technology. I am finally the right mix of bitter and motivated enough to spend time each week writing about something I care about.

Which is: ” The world is better with more creators in it™ “. Did I steal that? You bet I did. I don’t have time to think up catch phrases. At least I didn’t write it using AI. I’m totally going to write a whole bunch of stuff later using AI but for the purposes of this intro I’m putting in the work.

I want to build at site that is a real resource when you want to get shit done at a gaming studio. Think about Game Maverick as “The Wirecutter of running a game business ™ “. I want to help people get the straight forward stuff done quickly so they can focus on building entertainment value. There’s a ton of stuff you do in the gaming business that feels like forward progress but is really procrastination from the hard stuff. The hard stuff is creating something new and then being vulnerable when your baby gets released to the world only to have it fall flat on its face. Welcome to the game industry!

I know everything is a vlog these days but there is going to be some really concise stuff here I can only communicate in text. You’ll have to deal with reading for now. Also, I’ve been doing this a long long time. Like started with Atari 2600 as a gamer and bought an iPhone on day 1 from an Apple store in New Jersey long time. I’ve built casual mobile games, ad networks, developer tools and a lot of social casino stuff. It would be fun to be an anon internet guy because I could use some pretty cool avatars like this:

but I’m not really. For now, lets go with being pseudonymous by not plastering my resume all over the website and see how it goes. Allons y!
